Why I do Aikido, by Thalia Weber

I have been doing Aikido for almost three years, and in that time I have made many friends. At first it was just me and my best friend and a lot of people we didn’t know; but soon both of us started to make more friends, and now everyone is friends with each other.

Every time I earned a new belt I feel so proud, and I feel that all the work and effort was worth it. At first Aikido was a bit confusing, but now it feels easier and natural. Aikido has also made me more aware, patient, and flexible. It has also given me a chance to exercise, and move my body.

I use Aikido in my daily life, like using shiko at school when we have to pick up trash, or a forward/backward roll if I fall so I don’t hurt myself. I even taught some of my friends outside of Aikido bear and crane resling. My brother took Aikido for a little while, and one day he fell and did a backward roll, and if he didn’t he could have been badly hurt. Aikido can even help if you get into a fight, or even save your life.

There are many more reasons I do Aikido, but that is all I will say.
