RA Angotti, Chief Instructor
Over twenty years ago I began teaching Aikido in the Fargo/Moorhead community. In the early months, classes were held on the Concordia Campus. Eventually, we rented a space in downtown Fargo and with the help of some of my earliest students, we built our own dojo. At our first location we were able to welcome my teacher Shibata Shihan and several of his Berkeley Aikikai students for a seminar.

We spent several years at that 610 Main Ave. location. We hosted college courses through NDSU and Concordia. We were also able to welcome my friend and colleague JD Sandoval for one of our first guest seminars.

Without the help of my earliest students and the support of my Aikido family in California, we might not have been able to establish our dojo. Eventually however we were able to relocate to a larger space. Once again, with the effort of my students, we built a beautiful training hall where we have remained since. At that location we were invited to host an Un En Kai summer seminar, and on another occasion we welcomed my friend and colleague, Jae Cho.

Over these 20 plus years, we have had the opportunity to introduce this practice to numerous people. We have had hundreds of people explore aikido practice with us. I am truly grateful for the courage and trust that each of these students have placed in me as I have tried to guide them into the heart of aikido as I have known it.
In March of 2023 we will host an event honoring the efforts of all the students who have trained at North Wind Aikikai. Everyone is welcome.
