RA Angotti
I am excited to once again host an artist competition at 824 Main Ave. Trying to create a space for young artists to introduce their work in the community is a priority to me. As a member of vibrant, downtown Fargo, I wanted to offer our building as something of a canvas for young artists exploring their talents and creativity. Two businesses at 824 main are sponsoring this event. Red River Health and the Aikido Dojo, North Wind Aikikai are the hosts. In addition to providing a stipend for the winners, we will be displaying the winners art on the building exterior for the community to see. Additionally we will host a Gallery event for the winners and for other applicants. We would love it you can support this event by spreading the word and inviting any students you think would be interested in applying. We would also like to welcome your presence at the Gallery event. If you have any questions you can contact me or the Director of our event Jodi Peterson.
DETAILS
This competition has been developed as a strategy for encouraging and supporting young visual artists in our area. We are very enthusiastic about young artists having a chance to share their work, meet other young artists, and meet members in the community who want to discuss their work. To that end, Red River Health and North Wind Aikikai are sponsoring a Young Artist Competition. The winners will be given $400 each and will be invited to display their own artwork on the 824 Main Ave. building. This painting will be quite visible in downtown Fargo. The artwork will be displayed for many months.
Any young artist between the ages of 18 and 25 can apply. There will be two entry categories. You must choose one. The first category is a display. The display will be for the organization North Wind Aikikai and the practice of Aikido. This organization is a dojo (training hall) and Aikido is a Japanese martial art discipline. The dojo is located in the 824 Main Ave. building. Inspiration for the subject and design of this display can be found by looking at the dojo website including the gallery, and videos sections, and by visiting classes.
The second competition category is based upon the theme: “America Re-imagined”.
