Robert Angotti, Chief Instructor
We will resume regular practice for both children and adults starting November 29th. Thank you for your continued patience and support as we work through this latest surge of COVID cases in the area. In order to try and reduced the likelihood of the dojo being a vector for transmission, we will be implementing the following protocols.
Instructors
Instructors will be required to test for COVID at least once a week. Please report the results of these tests to Jodi Peterson.
Instructors will be asked to follow CDC guidelines on vaccinations. For those who have been vaccinated, or who have acquired natural immunity, booster shots will be required within the CDC recommended window.
Instructors will be asked to wear masks until otherwise directed.
Our dojo is built entirely upon the volunteer efforts of our members. Thank you once again for your service.
Members
Thank you to all members for their continued patience through COVID. I realize that training during this time with changing circumstances and protocols can be challengning. North Wind Aikikai depends on members for sustaining its future and our members and parents have been very supportive throughout this ordeal. I am very grateful.
Full vaccinations are advised for all participating dojo members.
All members are asked to practice diligence in public settings in order to reduce the likelihood of acquiring a COVID infection. This means the continued application of social distancing measures and proper masking.
Members will be asked to wear masks during practice throughout the ongoing delta surge.
All members should wash hands before and after training.
Classes will involve a paired partner training protocol. Students will be paired for each class and we will try to maintain that pairing through the next several weeks.
Holiday Schedule
The dojo will be closed for a prolonged period over the Christmas and New Year holiday. The last day of classes will be December 23rd and the dojo will resume the normal training schedule on January 3rd.
Beginner’s Class
Starting in January we will be conducting and introductory Aikido course. The classes will be Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7-8pm. Anything you can do to help us spread the word about this course would be greatly appreciated. This introductory course is part of a Concordia College class but it is open to anyone. The course will run January through April. The fee will be $150, but all active dojo members can participate in the course for free.
Continued Sacrifice
Thank you to all members and families who continue to support North Wind Aikikai. The year is ending with more COVID complications than any of us would like. I understand that there are a variety of options available to you for fitness and martial arts training. I also understand that there are varied strategies for managing COVID. Your continued patience, co-operation and support are greatly appreciated.
